The Sockeyes sailed to an easy victory over AZ Future Stars 10-2 on Sunday by opening up scoring early in the first inning. Later in the game they tallied four runs in the seventh inning, with help from an in the park home run by Blake Peterson and an error on a ball put in play by Hunter Christian.
Luke Barch on the bump lasted five innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out five. Ben Neuberger threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen throwing 20 strikes through 22 pitches.
Sockeyes players saw the ball well Sunday, racking up nine hits in the game. Kolby Jensen and Sinatra Dreisbach collected multiple hits for the Sockeyes, while Blake Peterson led the Sockeyes with three hits in four at bats. The base runners stole eight bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Kolby Jensen led the way with three.
The Sockeye Black team walked away undefeated through the weekend scoring 49 runs for and 12 runs against in 5 games. Their teammates on Sockeye Red put forth a commendable showing as well eventually losing a close semi final game to the team that faced Sockeyes Black in the final. Sockeye Red scored 45 runs for and surrendered 28 runs in four games. Jake Rafferty led the Red team with 7 RBI's while Gavin Partch and Michael Bretzke held the top batting positions for the tourney. Niko Alailefaleula literally stole the show with 11 stolen bases.
